Congratulations!

I am so anxious to start mine, which is exactly like yours.

Question:

I was listening the video and the sound of the motor:  there was some background noise when iddle, does anyone know if that noise comes from the camchain and its tensioner?  Or is it the normal sound of the CB350F?

The truth about these engines is: they are so mechanically silent that the camchain noise stands out. The other Fours have various clattering sounds that dwarf the camchain noise (except when VERY new), but the 350F remains very silent. Everyone who owns one mentions the camchain noise, yet I always noticed the same noise on all brand-new Fours of all sizes "back them", only to hear other sounds override the chain, later on.

It's their signature! And, one of the (many) reasons I've always wanted one.  :-*

That's really nice to know.

 :D

I presume the 400 four sounds similar to the 350 or does it have various other clattering noises to mask the cam chain too?

HondaMan:  thank you for your commentary, I really appreciate all of the!

Question:  if that noise is part of the 350F, I can we know that it is time to fix it?

I dunno but my 350 sounds just like LM's (Minus the sweeeet 4-4)

I'm counting on her to tell us if the sound changes  :D ;D

My 400F doesn't sound like the 350....Seems more high strung

Got the CB out for a little ride today!

I went in the garage to put the tax disc on the bike, took the cover off and WTF!!!!

There was bird poo all over the bike!!! When I say all over there was a couple of blobs on the seat, some on the rear mudguard and some on the front mudguard. It definitely wasn't there when I put the cover on the bike so a birdy must have got in the garage (not difficult) and got stuck under the cover some how!! Thankfully there was no damage done but the bike was pretty dusty despite the cover.

So I wiped the #$%*e off, dusted it a bit and put the new tax disc on. At this point my partnercame out and had a look and said he'd like to take it for a ride up and down the road. So we started it up and he had a ride up and down our cul-de-sac a bit. Wow, it sounded gorgeous!! I've not really heard it much when I haven't had my helmet on. It sounded so smooth and really good when he accelerated up the road.

Of course then I had to have a go so I grabbed my helmet and gloves and got on. Surprisingly it came quite naturally again. The only thing I wasn't used to was the throttle response as it's quite snatchy (possibly because of the push-pull cable mechanism). Anyway she felt good just going up and down the road. I tried the brakes a few times. The front felt very vague as always but the pads are new so hopefully will gain a bit of bite when they bed in a bit. The rear gives more confidence.

Then I just had to go out properly, so I grabbed my gear and off I went for a short ride.  A nice mixture of fastish and some more twisty roads. I got her up to 70mph but didn't want to push too hard until the front tyre and brakes are scrubbed in and I'm used to it again. I even did some mild filtering.  8)

I couldn't get over how lovely she sounds now. VERY SMOOOOOOOOTH. That electronic ignition has made a lot of difference. I don't think she's run that well ever since she was brand new.. gorgeous.

NICE Bike! Interesting that your mechanic was able to fit Hondamans ignition where the stock points went. I wonder if that would work on a 550K1? Do you happen to know how they mounted it?

Hondaman's ignition doesn't replace the stock points. I haven't taken the points cover off yet to have a look, but there's wires coming out and up to the battery compartment where he mounted the transistorised ignition unit. I believe that you just have to unplug a couple of wires and plug the stock ones back in to use the original points again.

The hondaman unit doesn't replace the points it supplements them if you will...

The unit can mount anywhere.

Very nice bike Loonymoon, I'd love to get my partner one as she has designs on my CB650 and I'm afraid some things you just don't share!
Hearing you talk of the road traffic reminds me how lucky we are here in NZ with long empty roads around our two islands.
The wee Honda 350f's are a rather scarce bike over here, I know of only one locally in Napier and the others I've only heard of from NZ members of SOHC, enjoy your little gem.......Hush.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Wow...can a bike be "pretty"?  That is a real pretty bike.  Sounds like you will surely be giving it the TLC that these vintage bikes deserve to preserve.  My friend had this identical bike in the 70's and he bought it new.  He had the front end chopped and it was cool with the extended forks he put on.  But then going like 10 MPH applied to much front brake on some gravel and over he went with his girl on the back.  With shorts on their legs got pretty scrapped up so he sold it.  Brought back a lot of memories.  Thanks for sharing this nice find.
