Hello from Columbus
« on: June 02, 2008, 01:56:39 PM »
Hi all,
Just got my first bike. Grew up overseas (indonesia) riding my dads bikes and now ive got my own. Its much like a video game over there. no speedlimits, extra points if u hit a chicken...
I am pretty new to motorcycles as far as it comes to mechanics. i have fed my lust for a motorcycle with building and racing fixed gear bicycles for the past 4 years stateside.
been working on my 1976 cb550 for a month now and sohc4 has been a GREAT resource!

carb not firing
« Reply #1 on: June 02, 2008, 03:39:01 PM »
so i have carb #3 of 4 leaking fuel.
Whats the first step?
Ive already cleaned the carbs.

I am pretty sure (but not certain) that the 3rd carb had some issues. the column that the jet sat in was partially eroded so i jimmy rigged and o-ring to fit around it and i thought it was sitting snug...

any help would be great!

Can you post photos?  Check your float height.  If it is "jimmy rigged" on the one carb, I am guessing you know the answer  ;)  Welcome to the forum from Fort Wayne, In.  I am in Columbus a few times a year working at Scott Field.
