So, I had Dunlop D404's on my Virago 750 a couple years back and I really liked them. Rode through some very heavy rain, lots of different temps, etc. Almost 8,000 miles in one year on that bike and the tires seemed to wear very well. I need new tires for my CB750 (K1) and I was wondering if they'd work as well on that bike. I seem to remember that someone posted that ires with diagonal grooves like the 404's (most modern tires, in fact) mess with the handling characteristics of the CB750. Anyone care to comment? The bike is bone stock, still has the loose balls in the steering and the bushings in the swingarm. Is there a better choice for tires? Don't care as much about maintaining "the look" so much as I want a good tire that grips decently well (not a corner carver, though) and wears well. I ran Cheng Shins on my chopper all last year and they were fine too, but this bike is gonna see a lot of two-up riding with my fiance and I want it to be extra safe/reliable.
As a second note, the current tires are Dunlop TT's (I didn't choose them) and I never got to ride the bike on them. The front is a 100/90-19 and the rear is a 110/90-18. The front is pretty standard, but the rear seems narrow. Would a 120/19-18 be a better choice? Maybe even wider?
The Dunlops are ok with tubes too, right?
