As the subject line asks, has anyone bought the reproduction '73-'76 CB750 main wire harness sold by PartsNMore.com? I'm thinking of buying one, but I'd like to know what others thought of it before I do...

Thanks!

i have one on my 74 750k. the first one i got had 2 missing wires for the tail/brake light and one wire with no continuity. without questions they sent me a new one overnight. it's a decent quality harness. right length too. cant beat it for the price.

Thanks, guys. I went ahead and bought one as I've had more issues with the hacked harness that my bike came with. It seems to be decent quality for being aftermarket, and I like how the female bullet connectors have the barbs inside to lock firmly together with the male connectors.

One quirk I wanted others to know about: Everything worked on my harness except the headlight. After tracing the wires, it turns out that the brown/white stripe wire from the key switch is supposed to be tied into the brown/red stripe wire going to the headlight fuse. On the PartsN'More harness, they are not connected, instead there are 2 female-ended brown/red stripe wires and an extra brown/white stripe wire in the headlight bucket. You have to solder these together (as Sumitomo did in the original Honda harnesses), or make up a short jumper wire with two male ends. Other that this little quirk, the harness installed with little fuss. Hopefully it will give many seasons of dependable service.

I customized my harness a bit w/ a different HB control switch for the cafe (it unplugs,I just eneded to cut, solder and splice for the plug), but yes, you are right, thanks for reminding me about that, so that was the only issue I had too...

Without highjacking the thread too far, what different HB controls do you have?  Mine are pretty shot but didn't want to spend a ton on new Honda specific HB controls unless I had to.

handlebar control, singular, I only have the throttle and master on the right side.
with the headlight off, there is no power to the blue wire, which I ran to my coils for a kill switch.  With the headlight switch on in park or headlight on, there is power there.  so my headlight switch is used for two functions.

mkramer1121, would you share some more info on the multi-wire plug you used on your cafe and where you found it?  My headlight mounts directly to the inside of a full fairing, which means unbolting the headlight housing and letting it hang while I do maintenance.  I've looked for a universal connector to use but haven't found one that would do the job.  Thanks!  RR

I used the plug that came w/ the aftermarket switch.  It came w/ a plug for the harness.  However, if you are looking for something to unplug your headlight from while you do maintenance, I know Molex makes a nice set of connectors (MLX series) that you could probably use and I believe they are IP54 rated at a minimum.  Just do a google search for Molex connectors..  Probably available from newark.com
