Replace head gasket, now crankshaft won't turn
« on: May 27, 2008, 07:15:30 PM »
I replaced the rings, base gasket, and head gasket, and just finished torquing down the head.  I have not reinstalled the cam shaft yet, but tried turning the crankshaft to make sure the pistons were moving alright in the cylinders, and nothing - it won't turn more than a hair.  Any thoughts?

Is the cam chain still in?  If so, it may be bound up at the bottom.  Can you turn it the other way?

Of course the chain must be surrounding the roller between the case and cylinder and be in front of the slider. Other than that, you should be able to retrieve it easily with a pencil magnet.

Thetensioner seems to have pinned the camchain.  I pulled the head off, removed and reinstalled the tensioner, and now it turns clockwise.  Is it supposed to be able to turn counterclockwise?
