I`ve done this. not sure if i gained anything but i made a crap load of smoke.

I suppose the results depend on engine condition. It got me thinking though. I am going to get a spray bottle and spray some into my engine instead of water.

I`ve been thinking about water injection for a long time,didnt they use it in fighter planes in WW2? And then in the 70s it was in some magazine,i wonder how far it has come.

Not any farther since WWII....least in airplanes.

I just did the carb thing today. Did it in my bike and a rebel, a 2003. Well the rebel I think is running too rich and when I did this, it blew a lot of smoke for a couple seconds and it did help. the bike ran smoother and idled better.

In mine, I hosed it like nuts and even filled some extra in the carb bowls. I got a little smoke but not much. SO either my engine is way past this kind of help, or it was not that bad. I had just been using seafoam in the gas so maybe it does help!

There has been a zillion products like these, all claiming vitually the same thing.
Wasn´t long ago Slick50 was around and everyone bought it, threw it in their engines and made a lot of smoke....
Then everyone looses interest in the brand in particular, a short time passes and hey presto, another brand is on the market!

It all sounds like snake oil to me 

But, then again, I could be wrong this time.....

The main difference is that Seafoam has withstood the test of time.  It's not the newest product on the shelf by a long-shot.

I remember seafoam being around for at least 10 years I think. Before then, I probably didn't care.

DME, try it some time. Do the fog once and see what happens. I mean sure, things may not be night/day but it DOES help.

According to their website it's been around for more than 50 years.  Obviously that doesn't automatically mean it does what it claims, but it's a pretty good sign.  I use it on a fairly regular basis in all of my various engines.

I've added to my gas a few times to help keep the jets clean, but never to my oil.  Anyone here add it to there oil?  Results?

I have been thinking of trying it. More to clean than anything else. Just add a couple ounces and idle for a couple minutes and drain. See if I get chunks!

iv been using it for a while now and love it.
i add it as a gas stabilizer in the winter and noticed a big difference in the spring. (love the smoke )

I have been using seafoam in the gas tank for quite awhile and I think it smoothes out the idle.  I just tried a little bit in the oil tank but I haven't noticed any differences yet.  I'll keep you posted. 

I was very conservative on adding it to the oil though...

When I bought my '75 CB750F last fall, I didn't get to ride it much before the snow fell.  The few times that I did,  it didn't start very well (drained the battery completely once trying!).

I put 1/3 of a can of Seafoam in it the day I tucked it away for winter in the shed and let it idle for about 15 min.  I then pulled the battery and covered her up.

I just got it out of the shed a couple weeks ago.  Rolled her out, put the battery back in, flipped the fuel valve, and hit the starter button;  IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY ON THE FIRST PUSH OF THE BUTTON!

My point is I read about it all over the place, but never found  a situation where I had to use  it.

Maybe cause I dont use stock carbs or our fuel is different..

Just curious as seem seem to use it a lot..

 So I guess I am asking does everybody (almost) use this stuff?/

That is very likely.  I know here in Milwaukee we are drowning in gas additives!  My car runs better when I go on trips to northern Wisconsin due to the "better" gas.

What kind of carbs are you using?

Webers.. all the jets come out of the top, without removing carbs..

 When I started it last summer it had sat for a year and a half outside.. under a small roof overhang.. but it till gets wet or snow on it.. It fired up rough but cleaned out pretty quick.

 I used to think our gas went bad over the winter but now I think it is not that bad.

 A few years back it was running badly, I pulled the lower covers off the carbs thinking it was bad gas.. but they were clean! Turned out to be plugs..

 We are quite dry here, I am starting to think humidity plays a big role in  bikes being stored having fuel problems..

Well for storage purposes, it works like stabil.

In oil ,it is more of a cleaner. You put it in before you change the oil and idle for a while. Then drain. I do not think it is meant to be left in for long term.

It is also useful for removing carbon in the engine.

Ooooh, see that makes sense.  I just couldn't understand how this would benefit your oil.

Deposits preventing leaks! That is a leak waiting to happen, most likely when you are 100 miles from home.......In the rain.....At night.....with a mental hospital up the hill!
