Blowing out oil
« on: August 25, 2005, 05:48:15 PM »
OK!  what did I do? I put a new piston and rings in a 78-f and I got oil blowing out if the exaust port. Did I put the rings in up side down?, cause I made sure they were 130 degrees of each other

Dennis,

Is it burning oil (smoke) or is it coming out the port as oil?

If it's coming out as oil you may have forgot to replace the seal on the valve stem and it's alowing oil to come through the guide.

Just a thought.

I got thinking and I'm thinking one of the o-ring seals in #3 cyl. is allowing oil in the cyl. bore. I thought maybe it was the piston and ring that I replaced ,but that was #4 and it is fine

Dennis, if you did'nt have the seals off the valves, you are probably right in thinking O ring problem.

Is this problem on your drag bike?
