stupid question of the day.......
« on: June 03, 2008, 07:05:37 AM »
on a 1978 cb750F - how do you get the dust seals out without destroying them? I need to replace fork seals on both my F's but the dust seals don't want to move.

Also, anybody buy the seal removal tool from z1? How do you use it?

just pry with a small scredriver, they just slip over a little groove on the aluminum casting,to  remove the seals i heard after complete disassembly its best to dip the ends of forks with the seals dipped in boiling water for 5 minutes,i just pryed mine out with a dremel and screwdriver but they were a little of a #$%*,i'll try the boiling method out next with a seal puller,,this was on a 78k not sure if it helps any,you should be able to just get them off with a screwdriver using the boiling method they are just pressed in no biggie
