If you don't mind I can answer that. Jay's crew did just that with mine. They will get the bearings and properly torque down the rods. Saves us from buying any special tools and assures the bearings are sized right the first time. It was worth the extra money for me.

Yes send it in. As Jerry said, it is one of our specialties, complete crankshaft assemblies.

It took some time to get there I was "stuck" in an old thought process. Some of my rods may have been viable, but I wouldn't use them without proving that to myself, and that's time, effort and money. Money being the pivot point here. Yes I had already paid for what I had, but I was going to continue paying to confirm them, and APE would want more money to install then than to install their own, which is understandable.

So, with the APE/Crower rods decision, I can move on. Should be able to get $400 on eBay for what I have, and maybe $800 with the right bidders, which will reduce my inventory from 5 sets of rods to 0, freeing up needed shelf space.

Hows that for rationalization?  :)

PS: Since they will install mine, I won't get to weight them. I trust someone here will for the collective data bank.

I'll weigh them with overall weight, small and big end weights too. Peace of mind is a great thing......you just have to worry about something else breaking. Good move on your part. ;)

I'll admit I'm a bit confused as to who is making the rods.....I thought Crower would not make a rod that small (based on Jay's earlier statement)?? Who is making the rod(s)?????? ??? Jay?

All I know is what the sales guy told me (Pat). His exact words were "Crower...I think".

I find pictures on the APE web site of Carillo "New Sportsman A Beam" rods in the "GSXRZONE"   and Crower A Beam rods in the "HayabusaZone". The pictures are more similar than not. I'm not second guessing APE, either is fine by me.

But...enquiring minds want to know.  :)

4340 heat treated. Bolts are tool steel.  These rods are good for 400+ hp. If you are making more than that with your 750, we need to talk ;D

I have some 970 and 1000cc forged pistons on my desk. Now that we have rods for this motor, I will be pursuing the piston deal.

If we want this type of extraordinary effort to continue he needs to be rewarded not only with purchases by SOHC4 members, he also needs every one of us to support this effort by promoting to the biking world what he has made available. We SOHC4 members are only a simple minority in the SOHC4 world. If you are members on other forums or organizations please let them know whats happening!

I am really thrilled about this. The Ack Attack has a pair of APE equipped
Hayabusa engines, and we have a logo on the liner.

The ultimate worlds fastest motorcycle record was about the only record
that an APE bike has not held at one time or another. Now we have that too.

I want to especially thank John Noonan for getting us involved in this
project.

Gotta say we are pretty proud of our participation in the Ack Attacks world record effort.


Now for connection rods.  We have them. They are fantastic. As this is the first production run, we have run them through our inspection dept and checked everything.

They are perfect. The only thing we couldn't check yet is bearing tang cutout location. We had no bearings. We will have some tomorrow or Friday. Once we see that they fit the rods correctly, we will be shipping.

You guys that got in on this are going to love them.
