So you are saying, that if I buy rods, you will too, but you dont even need them??

And that you buy ringsets, without  even checking the widths??

Jay,

You're tha man!! I'll support your ventures with whatever business I can give you or send your way. I'll take set #1 (will you autograph it for me  ;) )

Re 1000 kits - will APE do the cylinder work (resleeving and boring, etc) and make it one stop shopping?

Jerry

Yes we would do the cylinder work.

They would be Crowers with the tool steel bolts. Good for up to 400 HP. Doubt in anyone is making more than that with a sohc.

Jay
What are your thoughts about the Carrillo "A" beams I mentioned. I understand your position BUT what about my points? ??? As an aside....those Crowers would be a perfect piece. Good for you for stepping up to the plate. ;)

The A beam Carrillos are made at Carrillos factory. We don't sell very many of them. I can't remember last time we installed some on a crank. They were supposed to compete with the Crowers, but are still more money.

Carrillo H beams are in a class of their own. They have always been way overkill for the Honda, but they were all we had. That is why I want to do this Crower thing.

We are one of the leading Carrillo warehouse distributors, but we also recently became a WD for Crower on the late model stuff, so That is what got me to thinking about this Honda market.

 Interesting..
To the first part....yes. I'll use them someday for somebody or myself. Maybe I'll build a large engine for myself.....I've got enough parts that for sure. As for the rings....if a piston takes XC's it takes XC's. Nothing to measure except ring gap. That old clunky Arias or Venolia stuff takes rings automotive stuff from the 60's that no one makes anymore. Those things weigh a ton too. Dynoman has newer big pistons that takes a ring pack that's at least from the 80's if that's what you are looking for. As for the rods and what they can handle....are you  building a 600HP CB?? Hell....go for the bike record which I think is 701HP or something. 70 lbs of boost should be enough..................to blow it smithereens. :D :D

there is a 699hp sohc out there?  or are you saying 701 would take the cake for any motorcycle?  i'm pretty sure there have been motorcycles with more the 700hp.  we've got a few 600hp bikes in my town of 250,000 so i'm sure someone somwhere has broken the 1000hp mark.
just curious.
does Eagle make anything for the 750?  i used eagle h beams in a engine i built and only paid around $375 for the set of 4.  they held up to 800hp on a friends motor, so i wasn't so worried about the "get what you pay for" thing. Eagle just seems to be much cheaper then other brands, but i still think you would have a hard time breaking one even with big power.

701 is for a busa streetbike. That's the last dyno # I heard about after a big shootout. It could be higher now.Top fuel "bike" engines make what...1,200 or so? Maybe more.
I've never seen Eagle rods for a CB. I'm sure the primary cahins or cam chain tensioner would let go long before a rod (as long as the oil system is intact)

All of the Eagle stuff is Chinese. Rods, cranks, etc.

Top fuel dragbikes like the APE equipped Spiderman, are putting out near 1300 h.p.

hahaha, no i live in a little town called Roanoke Va.  we have one guy with 2 turbo busa's.  on is right at 600whp.  they other is pretty much the same but with a 75 shot on top.  we have lots of fast cars and bikes here, mostly because there isn't much else to do for most people here other then find hobbies.  the guy with two does construction work or something.  i'm in the wrong field....

here is the story on Eagle rods.  Eagle themselves goes to the US steel market and bids on steel there.  they test it before and after the metal is melted to make sure its what it is suppossed to be. ie 4340 or whatever the numbers are to tell what type of metal it is.

it is also all virgin metal.  none recycled or reused.

they then ship it to china where it is forged.  it comes back almost completely done.  Eagle cuts and finishes the big end of the rod for its individual application.

how does china make everything?!  they make eagle rods right next to Little fisher price toys.

i don't like my money going over there if i can help it.  but damnit, we don't make anything in the US anymore, and if we do, its 400% more then overseas so you feel like you are getting ripped off.

Hey man,
They're nice rods, but my project isn't far along enough to justify a set (and I can't afford 'em yet).  I might be in for one at some time, but not this go 'round.  Thanks though.

In the interest of my edumucation, can someone explain what this means:

If it ain't XC or....even better XA forget about it.

What does this mean in relation to the rings?

It has to do with the ring thickness. XC are common for medium to large pistons . The XA's are thinner for less friction.
