1984 klr250 carb problem
« on: May 28, 2008, 06:46:01 PM »
1984 klr250. We got it a couple weeks ago.

She was working fine until all the sudden she wouldn't idle.

Got her home and tried to get her to idle but after a few attempts she stopped starting altogether.
Changed the plug to an '8' temp (slightly hotter, but will work for diagnostic purposes while the replacements are on order), and cleaned the carb thanx to Scott_rides_again. She starts now but doesn't rev passed 8k.

While putting the carb back in the bike I had to clean a bunch of caked on junk off the pictured nozzle. I couldn't figure out what it hooked up to.  Anyone got any ideas?

My guess is the PO didn't have anything hooked up to it and dirt eventually got in the carb.

Looks like the carb vent in the pic to me.

Better off getting a manual though to know for sure.

Also, make sure the fuel filter is ok,... looks a little old or dirty in the pic.
