20 years or so before Ducati produced their trellis frame, (EDIT: their Monster trellis frame) here is the Norton racer from 1974. I'd like one for mine, but it might make maintenance a bit of a chore.

That would be a wicked naked bike frame for a SOHC4....
Not sure if it would be harder to pull the motor out the side of the frame like stock, or drop the motor out of a frame like that one.... you would probably have to lift the frame over the motor for removal/instillation.

It is a cool looking bike, but it wasn't 20 years before Ducati.  The Pantah was introduced in 79 and it had a trellis frame and it started development in 1976. 

Though it may have been a source of inspiration.

That's one of Peter Williams works bikes isn't it?
 Never looked too close before, but, don't it have awfully long intake tracts.
 I been running some numbers for my 378cc CB360 and I don't think I can get the 10"+ intake  I want into the frame
