cb400t clutch grounding headlight?
« on: June 02, 2008, 10:38:43 PM »
1978 cb400t.  Headlight comes on when the clutch is depressed and the cable touches the lever bracket for some reason.
Any ideas?  Every time I shift I'm flashing someone with my headlight.

On a similar note, the right blinker does not work.  Left works, but when I try the right the, front running light just turns off.  If I hold the switch half way the rear blinker just stays on, while the front turns off.

Either the clutch switch is connected to the wrong wire inside the headlight shell or the cable is short circuiting something. Either way, its a good idea to find and fix problem

Better than flashing them with something else!

If I'm not mistaken, that bike has a switch in the clutch perch(safety switch-will not engage starter if not in neutral or clutch is not pulled in), so there might be a good starting place for tracing wires.
Go metric, every inch of the way!
