Newbie questions......
« on: May 30, 2008, 05:55:56 PM »
Alright guys bear with me for some newbie questions. 1975 CB550K
I pulled my carbs off and started checking them out, they were very clean. Replaced all the hoses, and i can't figure out where two of them go, or what they are for. They are on the back of the carb, right in the middle, above the fuel supply line.
2nd Question
The bottom of the air cleaner assembly has 2 ports. I know the one on the right goes to the Crankcase. Does the one on the left just connect to the port on the intake assembly?
Thanks!
Nick

I'd guess you're talking about the carb vent hoses on the first question.  They are the same size as the ones coming off the bottom of the carbs and they all go to the back of the engine in front of the swing arm.

The engine breather hose from the top of the motor goes to the side fitting of the filter box behind the battery.
The bottom of the filter box has a hose that goes to the back of the motor in front of the swing arm, and the end of this is blocked with a "pinch fitting".  (A cap with a slit that opens when pinched)  Water collects here and at tune up intervals you pinch that and let the water out.

See page 108 of the Honda Shop manual

Thanks for the info!
What does the one on the bottom of the intake assembly go to?

The air plenum one goes the same place as all the others behind the motor.  It's a reduced diameter or necked down hose.  The outlet is open but very small, so it can drain gas collected from overflowing carbs.
