Quick Float Height Q
« on: May 30, 2008, 09:26:43 PM »
Did a search and couldnt find an answer. What part of the float do you measure the height at? Manual says 21 mm. I've got 21 in the middle of the float, 22 on one end and 20 on the other. So should I call it good or does float height need to be measured at the highest point? I'm doing this with the ting just touching the needle.

If you've got your carburettor fixed in a true vertical position your float height should be the same right across the width of the float on the side parallel to the pivot pin side. Measure across the side parallel to but away from the pivot pin, not front to back perpendicular to the pin.

.....or does float height need to be measured at the highest point? I'm doing this with the ting just touching the needle.

That's how I do it, but I watch the needle to be sure the little spring plunger at the end of the needle "just" starts to compress after the needle comes in contact with the seat.  I have to use my magnifying glasses to see this... ::)
