On the day we left 5/20/08 We took Bronx river parkway to the Taconic parkway to the end(I would recommend taking Rt.22north all the way to Hoosic,Ny. Thats what we took on the way back, and it was great),then we took some small roads (can't remember) to Troy,Ny. and took    NY Rt.7 which turns into VT Rt.7 East ,got off the manchester exit and took Rt.11 East to Rt.103  to Ludlow(My Hometown).
Then on 5/23/08 we left Chester and took Rt.103North to Rutland and then got on Rt.7 all the way to Burlington IN THE POURING RAIN.wasn't that bad though,Kinda fun.(I would recommend getting off Rt.7 in Middlebury and takeing Rt.116north if you are in that area, much nicer road.)

Then on 5/24/08 we headed back south and took Rt.116south to Middlebury,VT then got on Rt.7south and took that all the way to Rutland,VT. and got on Rt.103 South  to the Folks place in Springfield,VT.

Last we headed back to NYC 5/25/08
We took Rt.11 west from Chester,VT to Manchester,VT,got on Rt.7 south all the way to Hoosic,NY ,then picked up    Rt.22 south  ( The best part of the ride, also could have had something to do with the weather!) took that all the way to 684 back to NYC.
I recommend heading up to VT it is amazing.

Andy750 Keep us posted how your trip goes.
Any places/towns  you plan on going specifically?

Thanks great info!

Ill be leaving from Boston, MA on the 21st June going 2-up heading up to Brattleboro and then Rt 100 all the way up to first night at Morrisville (B&B). Then from there take Rt 2 up through the islands of Lake Champlain to the top of VT and take Rt 11 west heading for camping by the lake at Saranac (here http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24494.html). Then some hiking and local stuff with a few rides thrown in for good measure before heading down to Saratoga Springs camping at the Whispering Pines campsite.

Finally head out east back to VT (not sure of route yet) to B &B around Dover, VT before heading back to Boston on Sunday 29th.

cheers
Andy

Oh Yes it was a blast! I came down from Burlington, VT and met Travis in Chester. Then road back up. It was pouring and good thing we had outerwear on for the conditions. This was my first time taking a trip with a crew on my new bike. It's going to be happening alot more often now. I'm Hooked! SOHC for life haha  ;D

We'll see about that after this coming Tuesday when I take my license test. Then the New England Skate Crew will head to destroy parks in some style. Next trip...Maybe Chicopee, to Stamford, to NYC. It's an idea. Or maybe a trip up to that new park n Maine that Sloppy sam built last year? Heard it's killer. Where ever the transitioned crete lies thats where we're headin.

Wonderful to look at, thanks!

Andy, I'll bring back an extra route map from Americaide next week. I used some of their routes last summer and they were really good, and should cover areas that are on or close to your route.

Thanks for the pics. They make me miss the years I lived up there.

By the way, your trip reminded me that Vermont has some excellent state parks. It was some years back that I "camped" at a few of them, but the parks had lean-to's at reasonable overnight prices. Of course, you'd need to stuff a sleeping bag inside of the milk crate. ;-)
