Topic: stripped spark plug threads

Any one have an easy solution to my spark plug problem?  I seem to have stripped the threads in the header and the spark plug does not want to go in.  I dont want to force it in. Any tips or tricks out there?

How bad is it stripped?
Is it just the beginning of the hole or is it the entire hole?

If just the tip, I would bring that cylinder up to TDC on its compression stroke, get a tap that is the same thread as the plug and gently run it through the hole. (careful not to hit the piston head though)
Then grab you vacuum cleaner, hook up the hose to it and see if you can duct tape a smaller tube or pipe to the end so you can suck out any debris from the cylinder.

If its too bad, then i would look into a helicoil kit and do the same process.

good luck, and hopefully its on #1 or #4 cause those middle ones can be next to impossible to get to with out pulling the engine.

I coated the tap with grease to catch the small bits, vacuumed, wiped clean, inserted spark plug.  No problem.  Much easier than I anticipated, 15 minute job.  I'm back on the road again.
