what is this forum "thingy"?
« on: June 13, 2008, 01:20:51 AM »
Just noticed this "thingy" in the bottom of my posts. When I click on it, "LOADING" comes up in a green band accross the screen. What is it and what is it supposed to do? looks like the "Modify" button but does something different.

It's the button that makes the big, green "Loading" bar show up at the top of the screen.  Duh! ::)

 ;) ;D ;D

Cool. When it's done, it means you're loaded, eh?

It simply means the Dept of HomeLand Security is downloading your posts for review and storage.
A good bike mechanic only needs two tools, WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move, but should, use the WD40. If it does move but shouldn't use the duct tape.

Ha! I foiled it. It doesn't work if you turn off your monitor. (TEMPEST, anyone?)

If you right-click the "thingy" and select Properties, you'll see that it's name is:

Themes/default/images/icons/modify_inline.gif

which gives a clue as to what it's SUPPOSED to be, at any rate :)

Here, try this:

So, it doesn't actually do anything for you?  When I click on the icon, the edit box opens up within the message - hence the 'inline'.  It is Ajax (javascript), so it might not work for you for a variety of reasons; If I can remember to do so, I'll look into it further since it might also be a permissions issue.
