Sound Familiar?

Sounds like they could have used the SOHC4's anti-scam experience...

What I don't understand is why some people are so willing to pay money, to someone they don't know and who's brand new on a message board, for a sight-unseen item.  I guess if you use a credit card you're fairly well protected, but you've got to watch out for yourself and accept the fact that not every human being out there has good intentions.

I'm still reading the posts over there.

Here's my thoughts...

Those young guys on the board must not have accumulated much suppressed rage yet.  In OUR forum, we'll beat your a$$ for putting tape on a bike.   ;D

Can you believe it?  They actually want the Police to solve the problem.  Then again, maybe they're so young they still think the system works...   :o

Alright, gotta go finish reading and see how the story ends.

Life is like a game of cards.  The hand you are dealt represents determinism.  The way you play it is free will.

I'm only on page 11 but it is already amazing! Well actually it was good by the end of page 2. I love it when things work out for the better.

I got tired looking at all the pictures, and them not seeming to make much headway.... it is a bit too long ... when someone reads it all can you give a concise update on how it ends up.

brimmer eat your heart out - you were only an amateur compared to this guy....

Short story long, the dude was scamming on a much higher level than brimmer, using proxy ip adresses and covering his tracks pretty well.  They cracked him over the course of a long weekend in a fashion that would make firecracker proud.

Those guys were scary good!  What I don't see is any follow-up after the refunds to help ensure that he doesn't just go back to business-as-usual.  He seems to be a pretty determined (recalcitrant) scammer.
