[Carb Question] Which O-ring goes where?
« on: June 01, 2008, 08:32:53 PM »
I'm kinda at a loss here, I cleaned my carbs and am about to put it back together with new gaskets and such, but I don't know which o-ring here goes to which one of these parts! Can someone give me a quick answer? I really don't want to put on the wrong one

looks like the right o-ring goes on the left part and the left o-ring goes on the right part.  but i could be wrong ;)

I'm pretty sure the thin one goes on the drain plug. I fit it on there, and screwed it into the float bowl and it went in good. Where as, when I put the fat one on it, screwed it in, it didn't screw in all the way...I still don't really know!  ???

Edit: As a matter of fact, I think the thin one does go on the float seat instead. It just fit on easier. But still, if there's someone who can help me confirm this I'd appreciate it!

What you need is the incredibly ancient parts book like i have, but not as ancient as me, which gives individual part numbers and sizes for the "O" rings:-

fuel inlet needle  5.7x1.2
Main Jet            4.2x1.1
drain plug           4.5 Dia
Fuel "T"              7.8x1.9
float bowl           6.7x1.1 ( isuspect a misprint there maybe 67x1.1)
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
