brake modification question
« on: June 01, 2008, 11:08:58 pm »
I've completed a dual disc setup on my 500K. In an attempt to eliminate the steel brake line, I've shortened the banjo bolt that I'm using to attach the angled brake line to each caliper. I have 10mm crush washers on each side of the shortened bolt. The base of each bolt has a slightly wider diameter which makes it fit very nicely inside the outermost crush washer, but the crush washer on the inside closest to the caliper sits on a raised lip. Will the pressure of the banjo bolt and the sandwiched crush washers press the inside washer into the recessed area at the top of the caliper, or do I need to do something else to ensure a leak-proof seal?

Get a smaller diameter washer. I think I used Suzuki or Kawasaki ones. Harley do some real nice sealing washers with a proper seal in them.
they were about 80 cents each last time I used them ( probably at least double by now ;))

Tighten the $hit out of it and look for leaks.
If you find some, try an other washer.
