Hello from SE Mich.
« on: June 02, 2008, 06:10:30 AM »
First time CB750 F3 owner here. Found an F3 totally by accident. Looking for a simple project bike and to counteract fuel costs. Answered an ad on craigslist for a CB750. Went to look at it and the PO said it had a broken cam chain. He had a garage full of 750's and said he didn't have time for it. I walked away, said it was too much for me at the time. I've built cars/sandrails and such, just didn't want to invest the time. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse. We left with a fairly clean, complete 78 F3 for $300. I'm at about $1000 total including the bike cost, in total upgrades, Tires, engine tear down, new valves, cam chain, sprocket, etc, total upper end rebuild. Full lower end tear down and reassembly. I need the wheels back from the tire store(tonight), a gas tank rubber, and the three side cover gaskets(should be today). Should be road ready tomorrow, with main system testing tonight(brakes, electrical, etc.). Nice to meet you all and although I've found pretty much all of the technical info here by searching I just might need to ask a question or two after I fire it up tonight.

G`day kvallelunga
sounds like you`ve done all the work, what you need this place for? ;D ;D

Seriously, welcome to the madness. You`ve found the best source of knowledge on these bikes that there is.
See you round the boards
Cheers

Troppo's prolly right. ;-) Actually, I'm sure we can learn lots from you and vice versa. What kind of shape is it in cosmetically? Post some pictures if you get a chance.

Welcome to the forums.

I used to be your neighbor. Born and raised in Imlay City. Hung out with people from Almont from Vo-Tech.

Best regards,

Alan

Hi former neighbor. I did not take any pictures of it's condition when I started. It looks the same, just a whole lot cleaner and the engine is painted, gloss black. I know that a semi-gloss is more correct but it was all I could find that was not a flat black. I'll post pictures tomorrow or Wednesday when it is road ready(it's not done, are they ever?).
