Have to ask. Stock wheel size vs aftermarket alum rims
« on: June 02, 2008, 06:18:09 AM »
72 CB750K

Going to order my new aluminum rims today (thanks tax stimulus)  Want to keep them roughly the same as stock.  18" R  19" F.
My manual is at home and I want to make sure I'm ordering correctly.  What I can't find here (I have searched) is the rim widths...
I know it's here somewhere.   Here are my choices :  http://www.buchananspokes.com/Excel_shld.htm

Front 1.85" x 19" or 2.15" x 19"
Rear 2.15" x 18" or 2.5 x 18"

I think (found some conflicting info) that stock sizes were:  1.85" x 19" F  &  2.25" x 18"  Is this correct?

Thanks

Nobody ?

I'm leaning towards getting the 18" x 2.5" for the rear.
Would almost like to get a 2.15" x 19" for the front, but will probably have more of a clearance issure there....

Bueller.....bueller......

I have a set of Buchanan's Spoke & Rim custom wheels, polished alloy rims, polished stainless spokes and nipples. Not sure how much they cost but they are same size as originals. Excellent quality. They came with the bike  ;D

Rear is 18` and front is 19`. Apparently according to the guy who put them on the bike, the widths were a little wider than stock. I dont know stock widths off-hand so I cant say. Buchanan might know or have a record of previous CB750s they have done.

When the front is fitted with stock tire size its a squeeze to get it past the front fender brackets and there is minimal clearance once on. Works ok but this is likely due to slightly larger width. See pic below....

cheers

I'll see what they have to say.  Wouldn't hurt me to get some more accurate measurements as well.

Just ask for WM2 x 19 for the front and WM3 x 18 for the rear, they'll know what to send you.

If you go 18 front and rear, you'll have a better choice of tyres as the 19s are a bit more limited. (In the UK)
