The very best way to do it is find a dyno with ega (exhaust gas analyser) and do a fuel setup run.
any 'real' dyno operator knows how to do it and it will save you many frustrating hours.
If you get it reasonably close first you shouldn't have to do too many runs. (I find that even a single run will give me enough information to find out where I'm going wrong)
You can also set it up for max power (11.5~12.5:1 air/fuel) or max economy 14.5~16:1 A/F)
I always thought I could save some cash and sett things up the old way but electronics saves so much time its worth it.
I think I'm going to contact my brother in Britain and see how much 'hobby' EGA is, Gunson used to make a reasonable one cheap. With a voltage inverter to power it, it should be possible to bungy it to seat and just ride 'normally'?
Glad you brought the question up, got me thinking how to save cash again

Quick edit.
Just did a quick search, Gunson still do CO2 analyser, Norther Tool has them.
They have gone up in price quite a lot though, $220.00.
