VF500 Honda Carb Air Tubes
« on: September 28, 2008, 07:34:22 AM »

I'm reassembling a 1986 VF500F Honda Interceptor. The carbs had been removed from the engine when I bought the bike so I'm reinstalling them. After cleaning the carbs I'm installing them. The air tubes that interconnect between the four carbs have a rubber hose coming off to the rear but I don't see where they connect to anything. This is not the California model and does not use a fuel pump or evap system. What is the function of the air tubes and where do they connect? Thanks for your input.

Here you go my young lost lad:

Those are bowl vents and they do not connect to anything unless there is a fitting loose somewhere.  They have to have "atmospheric" pressure I am a closet V4 mechanic at night when no one is around and my wife is sleeping shhhh!

Sorry for the "short" answer but having spent 6 hours trying to sync a set of carbs on a v4 with vac gauges and eventualy ripping them off and using a drill bit i swore i would never get within hitting distance of one again!!
