I cant see why someone would pay that much for a helmet they shouldnt even be using unless they are using it as a shelf orniment...because dont helmets have a life span of about 3-4 years before you should replace it?

Helmets can go for 5 years or so, maybe  Little more but certainly not 20. Kinda smells like BS to me.

Ok...gonna go out on a limb here....

Whoever paid that probably knows what the service life of a helmet is....

I'm guessing it was bought for a reason other than wearing....

Just a guess of course but given the $$$ involved....

754, the shell gets brittle with age so it cracks easier. The eps(foam) inside hardens and so does not absorb like it should. Plus given the age of your helmet, its tech would be considered "primitive" these days.

So at its age, it provides less protection now than it did when new, which is poor compared to todays lids.

The classic style look is cool but do yourself a favor(and us too) and get yourself a new lid. I am sure we would rather jaw with you here then read your obit. :)

Oh oh, I feel a helmet debate coming on.

Remember that (Frank excepted) to a lot of people riding is just part of the overall picture. The cruiser types yawn and fall asleep when we give our helmet presentation, since they will be wearing ashtrays on their heads because it looks 'cool'. Then there is the 'retro' crowd who fall over themselves to get open face Davida helmets in the mistaken belief that if it is new it must be better.....never mind that in 30% of accidents it's your jaw/lower face that hits the ground first. To many riders of our generation the whole thing is about the bike plus the gear they wore when they were riding the bike the first time around. I had an early full coverage Bell helmet. I would wear it today in preference to an open face......

Okay, I feel really stupid now.  I tossed a '76 Bell helmet in the trash because it was old and I won't wear it.  I should have tried to sell the damn thing!

Who knew?  ::)

Ah, the first reasonable explanation: "The Helmet Connection." That would explain the term "joybidder."

I think when it comes to stirring, size does matter! But I am sure it is all just compensation for other things lacking! ;D
