Oil Filter Bolt 750 k8
« on: April 14, 2008, 07:54:01 PM »
I bid on a new oil filter cover set up on feebay that came with a new bolt as well.  The bolt was all that i was really interested in since mine was all hacked.  So i opened up the package a few months later, today, when i was doing my oil change and noticed that the bolt is about 1.5 inches longer than the original that came out of the bike.  in my package there was another piece that looks like its a housing that goes in between the oil filter cover and the engine that would take up the additional 1.5 inches (it has an additional o-ring on one side too).  Does anyone know about this set up and will it work with my 750 k8?

I have the same set up on my 78 F2. I think it was a mod for the 77-78 bikes. Not sure if it applied to the K8 though.

Yes, Roscoe is right i believe... the extra "oil cooler" bit is only on the "F"....

Since you have the whole set up, it might fit? Try it? Or not?

From Hondachopper.com

CB750E-2600014 and CB750GE-1000014

F2
New cylinder head with bigger valves (34/31mm i/o 32/28mm), larger combustion chamber, larger carb mount rubbers, stronger cam chain, new camshaft, harder valve springs, new retainers, cotters, new pistons compression ratio 9/1. New rod big end bolts and bearings, harder clutch springs, additional fins on crankcase, larger fins on oil pan,
"oil cooler" - finned plate between oil filter case and engine. Final drive 15/43 or 14/43.

Cheers, Phil

It will fit fine. . . .BTW oil filter bolts are plentifully available as aftermarket pieces.  They are cheap too.   These typically come with a larger 17mm head to help avoid the rounded off bolt issues.   The larger bolt head also helps you to overtorque them too :)

Hey all like eurban said it will fit just fine on all sohc 750s. im thinking may where as the Fs were black so they added this extra cooling thang. I put one on my sister 74 750 K I just transfer the oring from the old filter so it gets replaced every oil change. instead of just leaving that one on the cooler. so it gets a kinda fresh one. I have often wondered just how many degrees cooler they make um run . but honda must of had a reason. Its like the  real plumbed up coolers we can run I have some biker buddies (harleys)  that say oh you dont need a cooler on those. HUH! no its not over heating BUT I do think over the long haul it lengthen engine life certainly on my 836 power plant have fun Craig in Maine
seven fifty four ever its not the destination its the journey Ive been collecting these old dinasours for 33 years . they are quite an ICON

I have a 78F that needs the longer oil filter bolt, if you don't end up using that one, shoot me a pm and I will buy it from you for a reasonable price or maybe trade some stuff  ;D
