Center stand vs. chain
«

Hello all, tonight I decided to mount up a center stand that I bought off of ebay on to my 550. The installation went well but after I hooked up the spring I found that it holds the stand up against the chain all the time. Any suggestions?

A buddy of mine had the same problem. He put a u-bolt on the exhaust mount on the other side to keep the chain down. Also, Benjie makes a great center stand stop that I'm sure he would sell separately if you email him.

I'm pretty sure that the center stand is stopped by a pad on the bottom of one of the stock pipes. Seeing as you don't have stock pipes you might have to make some sort of stopper.
I never thought about that happening. If its true its good to know for future reference.

yep......its true!!! When you ditch your stock 4 pipe exhaust and go 4 to 1....you have to make a bracket to bolt to the right passenger peg hole. Adjust it to hold the center stand below where it contacts the chain. I still haven't came up with a permanent mount for my Kerker but I did take care of the centerstand hitting the chain.

The Supersport has a metal bracket that mounts between the rear peg bolt and the rear brake calipar to hold the centerstand lower than the chain. You might be able to modify one, or make something along those lines.

Thanks for all the tips. I fabricated a 90' angle bracket and bolted it to the RH mount for a temporary fix. It holds the stand down enough to ride but it's not a permanent fix. When I tear it down this winter I will find a more permanent solution.
