Hello from Alaska
« on: June 03, 2008, 10:18:08 AM »
Greetings from the frozen north. I own a 76 CB550F with roughly 38,000 miles on it. Our riding season up here is only about six months long so this fall my bike will turn into a project for the winter. I am planning a full frame up restoration on it and converting it to a cafe style bike. I really like the way "doug id" did his bike and will steal a few ideas from his project for mine. Until it gets cold again, I plan on riding it as much as I can.

Riding season six months long? You must be from southern Alaska. ;D Welcome.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Hi and welcome.

I had the pleasure of going to Alaska in May 2002, a nice time to go, after the snow and before the "No see 'em's" are out in force. Stayed in Anchorage a while, then down to Seward for a few days. Very nice it was too - didn't see many bikes though!!

Welcome to the forums, however, I fell obligated to inform you that your membership will be terminated effective immediately unless you take off that oh-so-sissy bar.  Just kidding, look around around and read some FAQ's, they're especially helpful.

Welcome! Nice bike.  ;D I'm just starting the same project. Maybe we can compare notes! Good luck with it. Looks like you have a bit less restoring to do than me.

Here in Colorado, we've been using those sissy bars this year to locate the bike, under these record snows...it's snowing again, but at least only down to 8000 feet today!
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Yep, snow made it down to 7500 feet this morning. What a weird year, here. Usually, our Fall extends until the first week or so of January here on the Front Range, then Winter comes in, better be ready! It usually leaves around Easter, with a last-gasp blizzard about that time, but this last 2 years, holy moley!
