Rusted Tailpipe
« on: June 05, 2008, 10:35:07 AM »
I was starting to clean and found this rust on the bottom of one of my pipes. Its not all the way thru and I was wondering if its repairable. (pic) Also there was a lot of rust dust and flakes coming out of the pipe and something is loose and rolling around inside. Im thinking the baffle has rusted thru and part has fallen off in the pipe. Very discouraging.

If your concerned about funtion rather than looks then you could grind it and weld a patch on it. Thats what I had to do for my bike to pass inspection. It doesn't leak but it ain't pretty.

If your any good with metal you could cut the rusty section out so you have good metal on all edges and weld in a patch flush with the surface, you`d have to paint it but it would stand out a little less than a patch welded to the surface
