  • A vintage 750 is a terrible thing to waste....
hi guys, i want to go with a different look on my front wheel and am considering replacing the stock wheel with an aluminum one off a 76 goldwing.  a couple questions:  1. will it bolt up to my 750 with no mods or issues?  2.  isnt the goldwing wheel a double disc wheel?  if so, do i have the option of removing one side and running single or can i add a second caliper and run double disc with little modification?

i just realized i have not posted a pic of my scoot yet.  i will try to remedy that later today.  thanks, ed

although they are slightly different the 75-76  GL1000 spoke wheel will take the stock cb750 brake rotor. You will need to transfer your disc to use it with your stock brakes, GL1000 rotors will not work with cb750 brakes because the offset is different. You will also need to use all of your other cb750 hardware.

if you want to convert to dual disc you have two options:

1) you can setup the wheel exactly  like a cb750 dual disc setup, which means you may loose your speedo drive

2) you can buy a 75-76 GL1000 entire front end from the triple clamps to the brakes and use that. You get to keep the speedo drive from the gl1000.

make sense?

I've used a Goldwing front wheel on the front of my CB550 with no issues what so ever.
I transfered the 550 rotor, speedo drive and spacers and it fit perfectly.
