Hello from North Atlanta (Alpharetta)
« on: June 13, 2008, 07:36:36 PM »
Hey,  I've been searching the forum for a while now.  Thanks for all of the great info.
I have a 1976 CB750K (with 60K miles) that a friend gave to me.  It ran pretty terrible, so I decided to take it apart.
Well, as I'm sure you can imagine, one thing lead to another and I now have a garage full of used parts from the first bike and a bunch of other stuff I have purchased to try and get her back on the road as cheaply as possible.
This has been a really fun process so far.  The funny thing is, I don't really know how to ride very well.  I rode her probably 150 miles total before she left me stranded on the side of the road - not fun.  Since then it has been nothing but cleaning parts and scouring e-bay and craigslist to try to find deals on useful items.  I have a ton of questions
about suspension and brakes.  I'll try to figure out where I'm supposed to ask 'em.  Anyway... I look forward to learning something and maybe contributing to the forum one day.
I am a mechanical engineer by day and a father of three kids (2.5 year old twins and an 8 month old) so I have basically no time for anything.  But working in the garage is a nice break that I look forward to.  If you live anywhere nearby and have any useful front end or rear disc brake parts - I'd love to look at 'em.  Otherwise thanks for reading...

Hey Ken!  I'm in the same boat as you, rebuilding a '75 CB550 to get a break from my mechanical engineering classes.  I'm a senior at Univ of Colorado Boulder.  If you don't mind me asking what kind of work do you do?

Kenolds, welcome to the forums! All technical questions go in the "SOHC/4 Bikes" forum. Lunacy goes in the "Open Forum." Good luck on getting her all back together. Given the time constraints, you'll have to work faster than my normal "tinker" speed. ;-)
