Mirror, mirror ...
« on: June 07, 2008, 07:38:13 AM »
Hi,

I'm collecting parts for the caferacer I'm building, but I have a little trouble finding good quality mirrors in the right style.
I wanted to use Bar-end mirrors first, but they don't look good with the grips I've bought. Here's a picture of the grips, my bike's handlebar will look pretty similar when finished.

So let's hear some tips, what are good brands or links for mirrors?

Vanem makes some pretty slick mirrors. Personally I like the clamp ons more than bar ends.

Emgo makes similar mirrors for a fraction of the price.

That's exactly what I mean Drackett. I don't want to cut up the grip, because I like how they are closed.
I guess you can't see a thing in those mirrors, but hey....

I had the bar-end mirrors for a while, but I didn't like them sticking out so far.  I wanted something that wasn't so noticeable.

Ended up using some cheap "universal" type that mounts to the bars.  I used the stock mounting hole on the clutch perch combined with a few bits of the original mount.  Added a set screw and it's nice and solid.  It kind of blends in with the bars more now and works ok once you have it adjusted.

Left side is all you need to be legal (at least where I live).

Ya i have the same grips so i went with a emgo clamp-on mirror. i couldn't see anything with it so I have just been riding sans mirror. i might put it back on eventually.
