What is there to know about the Honda Shadow?
« on: June 06, 2008, 03:53:29 PM »
For the past while i have been seriously considering getting a Vtwin of some sort...even the Harleys are a possable consideration for me...Mainly something a lil less..i dont know? Highstrung? Been looking at older VT750 and VT1100 Shadows over the past couple days and after looking at the pricing of them im seriously considering one...It would be nice to have a nice sleek cruiser to just ride around on while i wrench on the other bikes in the collection. So with this i ask...anyone on here have a Shadow and can give me more info about them?

I don't have much information for you on a Shadow but how bout a Magna? I've always loved the style and it is a Vtwin. The price is probably about the same as a Shadow. Apparently the power is sweet :)

The Magna is a V4 like my Interceptor...actually its the same engine with a 6 speed and a shaft drive in the case of the 750s..They also have the same issues as the Interceptor with the cam oiling..however i wouldnt mind a newer Magna...

My wife has an '02 Shadow 600 Deluxe VLX.  Aside from having a puny little battery that's a pain in the ass to work on, and little things like lack of a kickstarter, we're both pretty pleased with it.  That said, the 600s and 750s are very different bikes.  My wife didn't like the 750 because she said it felt more top-heavy.

I had a shadow 1100 1985...almost 18 years ago! ;D and i really like this bike and i bought another shadow (ace tourer) 2001,6 years ago and i like this one too, maybe a little bit more because of the hard cases and the windsheild.I never had any problem with them.

shadow aero, mine did not have this sound. There is two type of engines in these shadow 1100.

I could've written this word for word!

When my wife bought hers I rode it home on the interstate for about 60 miles.  Nice, steady, mild bike.  My wife likes the light weight, low seat height.  It gives her confidence she didn't have on my old SR 500 or my present bikes.  I test ride it after working on it, and I think it's fun.  If you like cruisers and v-twins, it's kinda nice.  The bigger Shadows (the real Shadows) have a lot more guts, but the 600 is plenty for just gettin' around.  The wife got some cruiser type luggage for it, and uses it for shopping and commuting to work.

Once again reviving an old thread instead of starting a new one on this model...Just wondering if anyone else has any imput when it comes to the Shadows. I know im looking at two different extremes with the KLR and the Shadow but im kinda flopping back and forth between them.
