Topic: Novice electrical question...What wire, connectors etc. to use

I'm about to splice in some new wire where my harness melted due to a short of some sort, what gauge/type of wire should I use, and what type of connectors? Is this stuff available at a Lowe's-type place?

Sometimes a "local" hardware store that has a good supply of electrical supplies. Most likely they will also sell wire by the foot. Make sure you get the same gauge or internal (wire) diameter when replacing. This will ensure that it will handle the current per the original design.
