Take a look at some of the pumpkins grown in the Mat-Su valley in Alaska, talk about monsters.

Had a family friend who use to grow them.

Had to grow them on a pallet so he could move them after they weighed 800 pounds.

Lots of work and a lot of fun, even got some prize money one year.

Here's a link to a manual on the website of the Local pumpkin contest here in Ontario.

OK, So 3 of my 4 bikes are all running and I am riding and loving my bikes, but I have 2 dumb non bike threads right now...so lets carry on. ;D

These "prize winner" seeds were sanded with 200 grit on the sides, soaked in a solution of hydrogen peroxide and germinated with a heating blanket. Kept indoors at the right temp for 10-12 days inside and today we made an official pumpkin patch!

10 x 12 with all the new manure and soil they will need.

1000 Lbs monsters...........easy ::) ::) ::)

Dug out the lawn and away we go. Buried a soaker hose under the surface 1st.

3 healthy ones for the patch!

Of course you need a bench to sit and watch them grow.

There's a lot of thinkin that need to be done ;D ;D

Colchicine (gout med) mixed in solution can cause marijuana to mutate. You dip the plants in it right after the seeds germinate. I wonder what this might do for pumpkins?
