Topic: Friday the 13th??

Well it's almost that time of year again. I will be heading out to Port Dover for the annual Friday the 13th rally. Anyone else heading out that way???

Yeah last year I found the morning was mroe than enough! by about 10:30 or so you couldn't even move and they were still lined up fo hundreds of yards heading into town.

The cruiser crowd is obviously the biggest group there and some of the guys were already hammered....we decided to call it a day and go for a ride. It was an interesting experience and I am looking forward to it again this year. The big difference this year is I will likely be heading out with my brother (me on the CBR) and he will be riding with a bunch of his buddies on their H.D.'s.....5 bucks says just as we roll into town they tell me to ride ahead or behind them so I don't ruin their look! lol...

i just purchased a GL 1100.
i'm hoping to have it on the road by then.
if not..... im riding the 550.

Well I sure am....just a few clicks east. Just south of Rossland off Garrard...

As we get a little closer to the date I'll PM you. I'm not sure yet of the plans exactly as I will either head out the Thursday night to my buddies place near Cambridge and get there nice and early Friday morning or ride out with my brother in the morning of the 13th.

fortunately i only work Mon to Thurs.so i have every Friday off
but my buddies do not.
riding by myself wouldnt be as much fun
i have done a couple of runs on the 13th but not in a few years.

No Dover for me but I will be exhibiting at the Paris vintage rally the same weekend.I will have a large quantity of Honda bits,mainly sohc 750 and dohc 750-900-1100.Also some framed classic Honda pictures.  Rock On

hmmm.....well last time we were in Dover for the 13th we went for a ride and if memory serves we made it out to Paris. I just may have to swing by that rally too!!! I had no idea there was one going on that day or does it start on the Saturday?

I will let you know if I am heading out on the Friday morning or not...biggest issue will likely be rain that will determine what I do...

Well I just did an oil change on the CBR tonight tonight to get ready for the ride out...will likely head out Thursday and with my buddy and head out to another friend's place outside of Cambridge for a bon fire and copious amounts of beer...from there we will ride in early and get out early before the crowds get too crazy!

The Paris swap meet is well worth the detour Port Dover is BORING.Lots of drunk GHOF's and when the weather is less than perfect more cops than bikes My 2 cents Joe whoops! I was talking about myself.

I made it out...there was a CB450T that hooked up with us for part of the ride into town but once we got there we went one way and he went the other...if you were on a CB450T and rode in with a couple of guys on sport bikes (one of which looks kinda like my avatar!) say hey!!

According to 97.7fm there was 30 000 bikes! Who knows if that is anywhere near factual though! They may have meant people and not bikes...all I know was it was crazy busy!!! Hung out for a couple hours and then took off riding...too many good roads out there to spend all day sweating and not even able to walk around.

Although PD13 festivities have all but wrapped up, it's not the last we'll hear of this year's event. Not only did the community reach it's target of 10,000 motorcycles, they blasted towards a single-event world record of over 12,000 tagged motorcycles. In all, officials estimate more than 30,000 attended the event. Manager of Tourism and Economic Development, Clark Hoskin, says bikes came in from as far as New York, California, Quebec, Georgia, Maryland and across the Great Lakes Region. OPP reported no significant incidents and said the mood was relatively calm throughout the entire event. Bikers with tags can enter their number at www.norfolktourism.ca for the chance to win prizes. Hoskin says the next step is to send a package to the Guinness World Record Organization, to get Friday, June 13th, 2008 in Port Dover into the books.
