Greetings from S.E. Michigan
Two days ago I dragged my old CB500 (tagged 11/1971 so I think its a '72) out of my brothers shed where its been for about 13 years. It was my first bike and I laid it down in a parking lot at about 15-20 mph, just enough to crack the tree clamps and scratch up various other parts.
I make a weak attempt at fixing it back up but it never ran right afterwards so I ended up buying a used 800 Intruder at the time instead, so the CB went into the shed.
Anyways I havent had a road bike in about 6 years, and I almost caught myself buying an ironhead harley just so I can get back on 2 wheels. Instead Im going to bring the CB back to life...
Here it sits in my garage (camera phons picture)
So far on the list of fixes is
gas tank cleaning with new lines
Carb rebuild followed by tuning
master cyl rebuild/possibly caliper rebuild/possibly new hoses
new fork seals
gonna try to find new side covers or some suitable stuff to make covers out of
clutch cable
new grips
inspect the brake linings front and rear
new signals and mirrors (broken in the crash)
new triple clamp (cracked from the crash)
a good polish or coat of enamel on any part I can take off the bike
a new baffle of some sort for that 4-1
Anything else I find needing attention
plugs and fluids
In other words I will be havoing plenty of questions =)
