electrical woe... blinker winker cb500
« on: July 30, 2008, 07:06:33 PM »
brand new to this forum. i have been reading and using this site as a reference point for a while now. but have run into this problem:

I am rewiring a mess of a harness on My Honda CB500f 1973. I am at the stage of the wiring the switch's. i have it all wired or so i thought... right now as it stands when i turn on the Left turn signal switch i can hear the winker working. but not on the right hand side. and that is the only thing that works... the actual LFT hand blinker does not work...

I looked at the winker and only the grey wire and the black wires are connected.  The green, or ground is not connected to the winker, because there is no terminal for it to connect.  so i go to my local auto store ad pick up a universal one and plug it in... and nothing. now nothing works... not L or R.

so (keep in mind whoever attempted the wiring before did it with a blindfold on, i assume) I switch back to the original winker and swap the wires... thinking maybe he has the wrong wires going to the lead... and to my amazement. it works exactly the same... The L clicking but no light...

i am stumped... sorry for the drawn out story. any ideas?

welcome to the site. check the previous links about this problem using the search thread and get yourself the wiring diagram from this site if you haven't already.
