float keeps sticking
« on: June 10, 2008, 06:49:01 PM »
So I am a new owner of a K2 and very happy. One little problem I am having is one of the carb floats
keeps on getting stuck and consequently pissing petrol out of the overflow of the particular carb.
If I take the bowl off and on again and give it a quick fiddle all is well for a short while untill it happens again. They don't appear  gummy or anything. What do you suggest I should do?

Pull the float hinge pin and clean/polish it up so the float can rotate smoothly on it.  You can also remove the float valve to make sure it's nice and clean.  If it still leaks, it may be time for new float valves.

And try to see if the floats may be rubbing on the inside of the bowl.  That can hang them up too.  Not sure what type floats you have there but my KO has the brass ones.  I could easily bend the tub in a little if it was rubbing on the sides.

Can that be done with the carbs on the bike?

It can be done, but it's definitely easier with the carbs off.
