Topic: what is this forum "thingy"?

Just noticed this "thingy" in the bottom of my posts. When I click on it, "LOADING" comes up in a green band accross the screen. What is it and what is it supposed to do? looks like the "Modify" button but does something different.

It's the button that makes the big, green "Loading" bar show up at the top of the screen.  Duh!

If you right-click the "thingy" and select Properties, you'll see that it's name is:

Themes/default/images/icons/modify_inline.gif

which gives a clue as to what it's SUPPOSED to be, at any rate

So, it doesn't actually do anything for you?  When I click on the icon, the edit box opens up within the message - hence the 'inline'.  It is Ajax (javascript), so it might not work for you for a variety of reasons; If I can remember to do so, I'll look into it further since it might also be a permissions issue.
