A freind of mine is into restoring the dohc hondas 750's, 900's, 1100's etc. He's into those because that was where he left off back in the day. he didn't have the money back then to own one, but now he can afford them. He has picked up where he left off in motorcycling 25 years ago. He doesn't care what anyone else thinks either.

That's just it, a person does it because HE wants to and for Himself, Not for anyone else! Some folks just don't get it and probably Never will! ::) No matter, YOU did good and that's what counts. ;)

The kind of people that will whine about a project someone esle has done are everywhere, and share a common trait - they haven't done or can't do it themselves.  A neighbor came over to inspect a deck the wife and I were building.  His only comment was, "I really don't like the way you've done those foundation blocks."  Later his wife came over to tell use we hadn't done the railing right.  Both comments were answered with, "Oh well, that's the way we like it" and then a change of subject.  People like that are best handled the way you did.  Politely ignore them.

I agree with the above...most of the time i just shrug off remarks about the old bike...i can imagine its gonna get worse when i get the CBs out...but the best way to handle it is to just smile and nod then change topics...

The old saying about misery and company really holds true. Those people who spoke badly about your bike probably watch all of those perfect 400Fs on ebay pass by because they have no money, or any place in their house for storage, or their wives won't let them have one. They bitterly pick on your bike because you have what they can't. People like that aren't even worth wasting your time coming up with a retort.
I have a really effective "you're far too stupid to even be talking to me" look that I bring out in times like those. It always seems to get the job done without any confrontation. You should perfect one too.

For the record, I love what you have done with that bike.
