nice first piece of sheathing!   ;D

Carpenter moved it around so he could work in the shade while building the dormer window frames ;D

Look where it shows up on the above photos through out the day. :)

  Nice shop Seaweb ;D
I've used both wood and propane, vented and unvented, in my shops. The propane heaters do add a lot of water vapour to the air which made it clammy, were expensive to run and will continue to be so. The wood heaters put out a dry heat, a quality that might be appealing on those grey damp and drizzly BC winter days. I know the old timers in my neighborhood like to drop in and pull up a chair to the blazing stove on cold days.
There are probably lots of locals with an old half-ton and a chainsaw that would cut, deliver and stack wood for a reasonable amount of cash if you don't want the job.   Kids can split wood too ;)

Fire wood is like gold around here. We all use it to heat our houses. I still don't have my stash for the upcoming winter ::)

My house has 2 wood stoves, the elect heat rarely gets turned on in the winter.  I just may end up going that way though. ;D

There is an inspection certificate you must get, but it's done all the time with houses here.    Fully insured ;D

As it appears that the floor has not been poured yet, how about laying down tubing(cable?) and doing a radiant heating setup?

http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/article/0,,1548320,00.html

A clever fellow might even figure out how to heat the water with a loop in one of the wood stoves??

Food for thought.........

I worked on a fridge boat for a while when i was younger, our hot water was heated by 5 loops of copper pipe wrapped around the exhaust pipe. If you have a jacketed flue on a wood heater you could run the pipe between the two layers, you wouldnt even see it that way

I agree with mark, investigate in floor radiant heat. I've got it on my shop and you can't beat it. A buddy of mine went this route as well in his 30x60' shop and heats the water with a tiny electric furnace, very efficient, especially since you're building new and can insulate well.

Congrats on the build, Seaweb, it looks fantastic!
We all have different methods and build techniques, and yours seems to be very similar to our swedish methods.
One thing seems to differ though.
Over here the concrete slab would have been poured and completely finished with drains, hoses for underfloor heating, etc, before anything else was done.
The reason is twofold: 1. Easy access when pouring the slab with no walls or roof in the way, and 2. a nice work surface to continue the framing work on.

Is there a reason for saving the pouring of the slab until after the framing and roof is done?

Cheers and keep up the good work, can´t wait to see the finished product!
Dan
