ijust downloaded this google earth program.
you can search anywhere on earth with this satellite photos program.
you can pick a country, suburb, city, roads or even buildings.Ive just been looking at down town bagdad,my house in sydney and pine gap(secret american military communications base in the outback) and the statue of liberty.

its really cool, although its a big download at 10mb.
you should have a look :D

highly recommend this program.

park your bike out on the street and i'll have a look :p

If you don't want to do the big download but are interested in seeing satellite images you can just go to the web page at http://maps.google.com or http://virtualearth.msn.com/.

Unfortunately you have to give up worldwide coverage if you just go to the webpages. They only show the US.

I love it!

Be sure to check out the google campus in silicon valley- it's the area with the highest resolution (1ft./pixel- you can actually indentify cars).

Look for big structures like airports, air force bases, ports. the navy mothball reserve fleet @suisun bay is great- USS Iowa can be seen.
also check out mt. st. helens and mt. everest.
There are a lot of cool placemarks posted on http://bbs.keyhole.com and www.googleearthhacks.com

Sadly, they bought the wrong set of hi-res images of my home (vienna, austria). the flatlands east of the city are hi-res, the city isn't. I'm waiting for the next updates.

Have fun!

Cheers, Remi

If you're running Win98se like me then Googl-earth will not run. Just thought I'd mention in case anyone tries and thinks their computer is blown.

browsers that work on win 98 can still talk to the internet?   boy.

anyway, if you download the program, do you still have to be connected to the internet for it to work?  or is it all in the program?

also, any idea how recent the pictures are?  and yes, im too lazy to find out for myself so please answer.
