Hello from Southern California
« on: June 16, 2008, 10:19:36 AM »
Hello everyone,

Just joined the board as I am finally starting the process of reviving what was once my brothers 78 750K. About a year ago I completed reviving my Dad's 81 750C, but am looking forward to the K, because I like the looks and ergo's better.

I don't yet have any pics, but I plan on doing a thorough job documenting the whole process, so I'll be sure to throw up a few on the board.

As for the bike, she's been in the family since new, with the exception of a few years with a friend. Unfortunately, our friend didn't do a good job taking care of her and in the end, she just sat outside taking a beating.

All the usual stuff will need to be done, new shocks, forks rebuilt, carb work, fluids, tires... but the only thing that may be a pain is the tank. It was left without a cap so the inside must have a half pound of rust floating around. I'm not sure there is anyway to bring it back.

Looking forward to spending some time here and hope to get some helpful info one where to buy parts, and maybe read some tips from others who have gone through the same process.

Cheers!

If the paint is still good then take it to a radiator shop and have them flush the rust out. If there's more rust than steel and it ends up leaking at the seams you're only out $40-$50.

Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

My wife works in Irvine, near the Spectrum.  I work in Cypress.  We used to live in Garden Grove but now live in Perris, 1 year and counting.
