1978 CB750F2 Accel pump O-ring?
« on: June 17, 2008, 11:10:12 AM »
Hello all!

I'm in process of rebuilding my carbs and i am wondering if anyone knows if the rebuild kits come with the little O-ring that sits on the the carb bowl mating surface that seals the passageway from the accel pump to the upper carb body?
From looking at the pictures of the kits i cant really tell. Plus all of my other rubbers look OK and i'm re jetting and i'm beginning to wonder if i even need to spend over $100 bones on 4 kits just to get nicer float valves nicer bowl gaskets and jets that i'm not even going to use anyway. The only thing that warranted a rebuild on these carbs was the fact that the bike has sat for a while and the pump was leaking real bad. (come to find out that the o-ring was missing)

Does any one have one of those tiny little guys you could tape to a postcard?  ;D

Believe me, i am a fan of doing things right the first time, and i know that i should just shell out the loot and make everything nice and new while i have it all taken apart. But... i dont have any loot right now, its beautiful riding weather and i have already stripped and dipped the carbs and blasted all passageways with compressed air. they are all squeaky clean. And really the only thing keeping me from putting them back together is this damn O-ring!

HELP!!!

I just now ordered 4 kits for a 78 750F2 from my local dealer for $15 per carb.  It is supposed to have all the o-rings in it as well as the bowl gasket.   I know that is a lot for one o-ring, but it at least is a option without spending $100.

The part number is 16010-405-004

Last time I lost that little #$%# I just replaced it with an o-ring from a drawer at my buddies shop that appeared to be the right size. Hardware/Automotive store? It's not a super critical fit, just needs to be of the type that can handle petroleum products.

Yes, that was my first thought. But my next thought was of that little Ba$tard melting from the gas and cloggin up my accel jets.

Wayne, send me the phone number of your dealer! My local honda shop wanted $27 per kit and it didnt even come with float valves!

Thanks for the input!

I don't think the wrong o-ring would actually melt as much as crack. The accel jets are pretty large and it would take a big chunk'a something to block it up. Get a couple o-rings and throw one in gas overnight-a couple days if you're worried.

I would think that o-ring would be part of the accel pump rebuild kit rather than the carb rebuild kit, unless they sell carb rebuild kits specifically for #2.

If you are going to have to have them shipped anyway, go to a website called Honda Direct Line and order them.  They show them to only be $13 and change for the part number I gave you earlier, but I did not want to wait a week, so I ordered locally.

My local dealer is Rockwall Honda at 972-771-moto
