This week's update is about installing the chrome bits. Got too many loose pieces floating around best to get them on the bike. The front wheel spacer needed a little knocked off the ID of one end. No problem. Installed the new grease seal and tightend things up. new compared to old:
Since I had it off, here's a pic of the speedo drive I had made, seems to be the big hangup on dual disk conversions. Phaedrus one had one turned down on a bench grinder with tangs bent down with vice grips. This is is much nicer.
The risers were a question as had the chrome been laid in too thick, they wouldn't lay in place or allow the handlebars to lay in place. All was well, no trimming necessary.
Brown's plated the ends of the bolts as well as the brake pedal shaft
Brake line T
Brake cam dust cover, splines needed to be opened up with a teeny sharp file, just a tad too much plating
This shot is for a purpose besides the parts, many here have installed this pedal cam wrong. Often it is installed with the draw arm on the underside of the swingarm. It goes as so, with the draw arm between the swingarm pivot and the engine, forward.
Got a lot of other parts installed as well.
On something a little different, others have asked me about sodablasting used pistons. I had a set from Phaedrus I Powroll 888cc kit. 50k miles, lots of carbon inside and out.
I thought the soda would work well and sure enough:
Perfect job and very benign, water clean up.
What little bit left behind is because I was doing it in the driveway at night and couldn't see well, not because the soda couldn't do it.
So, I've offered to a few i would clean their used pistons and will make the offer official in the Services section.
And finally, a parting shot
