Sunday's update: back and fill. The holidays did not afford any additional free time for projects.
We pulled off the #1 and 2 headers. After all the fitting we've done, these can now come on and off fairly easily. But it took time with a rubber mallet and wiggling the header. The purpose was to get to the lug we had cut off last week. I left it an undressed scar and that wasn't going to get it. I ground it down completely to the weld. I didn't want to take the weld off as it would contain part of the original tube as well, and taking it off may leave a hole in the tube.
Dressed it down with the Dremel then a file. Then i bot some gold paint from ACE to touch up the scar. Much better.
Farted around with the wiring, cut down some SS screws for the coil wires, other tiny details that keep coming up. To change things up, we switched to the other side. Moved to install the double sided motor mount from Rob (Voxonda). That motor mount bolt holds the ground wire for the machine. The frame is covered with power at that point so I scraped it off with a razor blade. Got it shiny bare metal.
Rob's piece is beautiful work. Bolt is oversized SS. Mount makes for a much stronger frame, along with all the other motor mounts which have been enlarged and fitted to tight tolerances with new bolts.
Oil tank should be next, finish some wiring. Maybe Christmas for a start up?
