Beautiful pipes MCRider...they will look nice and sound great. Too bad they are unobtainium like the Kerkers...
Hopefully you can refit the tail pipe to be closer to axle nut height.
Good luck with the coming weekend and extra work on the cycle.  How long do you estimate before test firing and runs?

Thanks. What i really wanted was another of the Triple AAAs like on my avatar. I've been diligently looking, but have never come across another set. A forum member bought a bike a year or so ago with a set on it. The Marshalls are reminiscent with the equal length squigglies. If the ground clearance is a problem, I can go with a taller tire and shocks. That should fix it. Gotta be more clearance than many of the "slammed" bikes that are so popular. Heck i may have lost the skillset that allowed me to scrape things in the turns, anyway.

Well, the original due date was about two years ago, so, it will be done then.  ;D

Next job will be fitting the oil tank and oil lines. Tank needs some work.  Then some final wiring. I've got an umbilical tank to use to start it with. Maybe another few weeks/months. Would really like a spring 2012 rollout.

My fault, the Marshall headers do not collect in firing order, just garden variety 1,2,3,4. No proof it makes any diffrence, but elegant.

Someone else is going with a gold powdercoated frame, including the gas cap. That's what i get for taking so long.

Geez, you could use that muffler for a side stand!  :o
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I didn't notice that. But there are no trademarks/copyrights in custom bike building.  :D
Gotta accept it as flattery.

I wanted a gold frame long before Carpy did it. But he was first, doesn't mean i can't do it.   ;D

My timeline:
1995: I parked it from a 15yrs+ of high mileage riding, as everything on it was leaking. Fork seals, cooler radiator, cylinder head cam holddown bolts were stripped, pucks, head cheese. Time to make it into what I'd always wanted it to be.
2000: brief spurt of parts collection and machine work, head, valves, cyls, pistons, pipe, misc., custom paint job (big mistake)
2008: got into weekly rhythm thanks to buddy Bruce and we've never stopped. Stripped to last bolt and nut, and worked its way back.
So its been a long time coming.

Yeah i know. Its not where i would like. And it can't move as the midsection is up against the frame. I do have a wide /70-17" tire, and relatively short shocks. The front wheel is up an inch or two on the wheel chock. Still...

I'm going to wrestle it up onto the centerstand to get a true idea of how low the frame is.

Nice thing about it is, once its running, if i don't like it, I can change it. Moving on...

Sunday's update: back and fill. The holidays did not afford any additional free time for projects.   :(

We pulled off the #1 and 2 headers. After all the fitting we've done, these can now come on and off fairly easily. But it took time with a rubber mallet and wiggling the header. The purpose was to get to the lug we had cut off last week. I left it an undressed scar and that wasn't going to get it. I ground it down completely to the weld. I didn't want to take the weld off as it would contain part of the original tube as well, and taking it off may leave a hole in the tube.

Dressed it down with the Dremel then a file. Then i bot some gold paint from ACE to touch up the scar. Much better.

Farted around with the wiring, cut down some SS screws for the coil wires, other tiny details that keep coming up. To change things up, we switched to the other side. Moved to install the double sided motor mount from Rob (Voxonda). That motor mount bolt holds the ground wire for the machine. The frame is covered with power at that point so I scraped it off with a razor blade. Got it shiny bare metal.

Rob's piece is beautiful work. Bolt is oversized SS. Mount makes for a much stronger frame, along with all the other motor mounts which have been enlarged and fitted to tight tolerances with new bolts.

Oil tank should be next, finish some wiring. Maybe Christmas for a start up?

I'm trying to post a picture of me in 1971 on a K-1 cafe racer I (loosely) built. It was an early Action 4 836cc kit which was turned down CB350 pistons. A spaghetti Triple AAA pipe.  Many here have seen the Tracey one piece body. My tank and seat were the spin off Tracy ensemble, 2 separate pieces. Dual CIBIE "airport" lights. Silver frame, home made ported head (guy worked for Yosh). etc.

Now that i know how to post pictures, I'll go take some of Phaedrus.
Ron,
I'm trying to do what you just learned as far as picture uploading & I am totally on my own here...; can you possibly PM me and tell me how to upload pictures??
I know it will improve my life a lot &...I'm kind of new to computers.I have Windows XP & HP image zone if that helps, or not.

I'll help Grc.  I have a free account with Photobucket, once you have your pictures in there {really easy, use the upload link then direct it to the files on your puter} you save them into your album they will appear as small jpeg's, under the jpeg there is a link, right click on that link and it turns blue, then right click and copy it and when you are posting just paste the link straight into your post, use the preview function in the reply section and you will see the picture then just press post and it in your post.... ;D ;)

One thing to keep in mind with photos is todays cameras create very large files.  If you save these in Photobucket, and then post them, it will use up your allowed band width very quickly.  I resize mine before saving to PB.  Generally this just means changing the largest dimension - e.g. 4000 pixels down to 2000.

I certainly cannot dispute anything anyone says about computers and bandwidth etc. But I'll relate my personal experience. The free accounts at Photobucket are now unlimited as to the amount of file storage one can have. That's nice. But i think bandwidth is something else.

"Bandwidth is used when digital content is viewed from a link you posted on another website or sent in an email (e.g., MySpace, eBay, message boards, etc.).". (from Photobucket)

Having to do with others viewing my pictures fromother sites, like this one. I've never received a "bandwidth error" indicating I was near the limit. Here's what photobucket says: "Free accounts are allowed 10 GB of bandwidth per month. 10 GB is hundreds of thousands of images viewed via direct links, and the value resets each month on the anniversary of the day you registered."

If I need more that that I may consider posting less.   ;)

I am glad I saw your post with the photo about the ground wire.
I am doing a restoration on a CB750 1978 and the frame looks the same exact color.
I put the ground strap on the inside of the frame.

Yeah, tell me about it!   :D  In past iterations, I shortcutted the theme to get it back on the road. And having owned it since 1974, it got lots of use, some of it on the track.

Now that i have other things to ride, the theme takes priority. and luckily the budget has been there. But I never thought it would take this long. Sometimes I feel like that joke "to cut back on overhead the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off". But we are getting there and its what i wanted. So don't hold your breath, but hang in there.

I use the computer a lot, but its mostly canned programs and Internet research. Learning to manipulate pictures thru photobucket was a milestone for me.

Having lost about 4 years of pictures to a hard drive failure, I like the idea that everything on photobucket is essentially backed up. Had another hard drive failure in April. No sweat. everything was backed up in the clouds either thru mozyhome or photobucket. Installed the new drive, logged in to pb and back in biz.

If you get stumped check back.
