Couldn't wait. I thought they would take a section out of the legs. But the welder would druther take it off at the feet, and weld them back on. 1.5" shorter.

All the angles and such appear to be right. We'll hook it up this weekend and if it does the job, off to Brown's for chrome.

Well the darn CS is too short! Dang its hard to judge these things. Its because the bike rises as the stand high centers then falls back down as the stand goes past high center to rest on its stops. It's difficult to guestimate the amount of that fall. I asked for 1.5" shortening. The tire was a good 2" off the floor. But, it should have been 1.1" or so.

Had the same problem with the sidestand.

Anyway, we'll weld some strap to the feet, shouldn't be too hard. May even make it easier to lift with a bit more radius on the leading edge of the feet.

Still waiting on engine parts and finding details to sort in the meantime.

If it's not one thing its another, eh Ron? I'd say you're truly in the final stretch now though. To bad we can't shove an extra month between now and June 1st! I'd love to see Phaedrus at the show all dressed up for the ladies

BTW.... Indy Powder Coating was awesome! They did a great Job on my parts and the $$ was pretty reasonable considering I had almost 2 hours of blasting required

. I'm desparately trying to get the XS done in time for the show. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=119593.0 Wont be 100% perfect, but I think I'll have it running in a couple weeks.

Thanks Joe. Its going to be the world's most expensive centerstand, especially with the chrome. But it'll be nice. I'd always said that if I changed the ride height I would change the stands to match. How else could it be?

I didn't mean to change the ride height, but I did and now it seems like it will suit me better anyway.

If we miss the Rockers, I'll try for something else yet this summer. Maybe a local VJMC or County Fair.

Glad IPC worked out for you. Always did for me.

Here's the 2 side by side.

I just dropped the short one off to have some pads welded on the feet. That should do it.

Did you check the position of the support bar, in relation to the exhaust pipe when in the up position?? It's got more angle & is welded on further up the leg. Better to make sure now, before it's chromed.

A few posts back I mentioned that we had refabbed the CS stop. That was to accomodate either the long or short CS, depending on the shocks I wanted to wear that day.

Yamiya is unbelievable! I ordered at 11P EST Wed night. IT arrives Fri 2P afternoon! I did not pay for spec handling, just the regular $16+ they always charge. 2 days from Japan, 10 days from Illinois (next door).

So: I needed the lower tree clamp bolts. My build calls for all new hardware: chrome or Stainless, pref Allen or buttons. No reason, just because.

The longest OEM chrome bolts I could find just weren't long enough. Those that were, from ACE, were 10 x 1.5 inst of 1.25. I remembered that the caliper clamping bolts were Allens of the 10 x 1.25 variety. And that Yamiya carried them in stainless and they are Allens. So I got some.

Then the chrome fork lock cover caught my eye, so I got one of those.

I was thinking I'd have my shift pedal rechromed and that Brown's could buff out the nub that holds the rubber on. It has a major flat spot in it from contact with the pavement, memento of my racing days. But the damage was too severe and Yam has the pedals smooth chromed on both sides, OEM is just polished on the outside, so I got one of those. About what Brown's would have charged.

Finally Yam had a magnetic drain bolt, with a metric hex. The one I have has some odd sized maybe ASE hex. So I got one of those.

Yam is giving rewards points now which take the bite off.

Keep finding things to do while waiting on engine parts.
The new one is noticeably shinier. more shiny = more better. For me anyway.

Cool mag drain plug, center milled out and drilled for safety wire. A bit overkill:

SS Bolts for fork clamps and chrome fork lock cover. Found a SS 3mm x 8 x 50 buttonhead at ACE to hold it on.

Little shop work today, Mother's Day and all.

They are on sale. The beam is much thicker than stock, if one cares. But the chrome is all around and very nice. No one can see the engine side I know, but it makes me feel good.

Just got a call from MRieck. Nice progress on the sweet engine. Souped up engine parts with a certain finesse, my style. ITs going to have plenty of ooomph without an edge. Really excited about the addtl head work and OS intake valves. I can hear it now.

In the meantime, continue to collect parts. I went back to Soupy's site and this caught my eye:

The oversize foot. So I bot one and it came today. Nicely made and surely won't sink in the soft asphalt or gravel.

As to my valves kissing the pistones, originally I had degreed the cam. Then as a result of a head gasket leak, we disasssembled the top top end (documewnted in the build thread, page ??) and retorqued the head nuts. I had marked the cam sprckt for position so we wouldn't have to re-dgree it. Then finished reassembly. That fixed the leak BTW.

However, according to Mike this NEVER works. My shortcut is the likely culprit. So we jointly decided not to cut anything more off the pistons, and to spend the time to degree the cam. Follow that up wth a clearance checking trick.

I'm scanning eBay for a large diameter degree wheel. Larger than the 7" RC wheel I've got which is difficult to use.

Exactly the one I've been looking at. So you can vouch it worked OK? Turned towards the rt side of bike? Center hole rt size?
